About

Mt. Bierstadt
Clear Creek County, CO

Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
Ascending before sunrise
Ascending before sunrise

Route: West Slopes

Starting before sunrise, we made our way across the frost covered boardwalks and eventually to the brook crossing which, though not running high or fast, was a little tricky.

The actual ascent was fairly tame until the final summit cone. Lots of steps, switchbacks, and wildflowers. After passing by a snowfield, the final ascent had some very minor scrambling.

We managed to get down just before some nasty thunderstorms and hail rolled in.
