Looking down the trail to Province Mountain Route: Wilkinson Road, unknown trail, (Province Mountain), unknown trail, Wilkinson Road On the way back from Abbott Mountain, there was still plenty of daylight, so I headed to the Province Lake area. After parking below the gate on the private road (small sign asking hikers to park there), I continued on foot up the road, climbing up the embankment at the cairned trailhead (the road goes downhill if you go too far). From there, I worked my way up the moderate climb to the summit ledges, where I had excellent views of the Ossipees, Sandwich Range, and Green Mountain. Continuing south, I went to the southern ledges and had views of southern Maine, the Moose Mountains, and the Belknap Range. While the views were great, there were no blueberries to be found - certainly not my primary objective, but nonetheless it would have been a nice bonus. Shortly after seeing the lake, Butterfield Road will be on the right. Head up this road (it will become Wilkinson Road), past the cottages, up to a gate. Park here (not blocking the gate), and continue up the road, around a curve, then while rounding a second curve, the trailhead is marked with a cairn on the right. Back to Province Mountain Profile
