Heading up toward the Great Hill summit Today was the first time in nearly a week that the sun broke through the clouds. After the crazy storm at the end of the weekend, I was unsure what to expect. The trail was firm at the beginning, so I only wore Stablicers. After a few feet, I started postholing about 3-8" down (there was probably about a foot of base), but nonetheless continued on without snowshoes. The views from the summit were probably the best I've seen from Great Hill thus far - Whiteface, Passaconaway, and Chocorua were as clear as could be with their snow covered summits. Low on time, I jogged the short distance back to the trailhead.
