Tamworth, NH Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below. ![]() Looking up the trail to Great Hill With the days getting shorter and shorter, I had just about enough time to change and hit the trailhead just before the sunset. I was the first person to ascend after the few inches of snow the previous night. Fortunately, the trail had been packed by hikers, skiers and snowmobilers, so there was no postholing beyond breaking through a thin crust of ice into two inches of powder. Upon reaching the tower, the sky was already filling with color. Mt. Chocorua was especially neat looking, as the rock portion was all white. The sunset was pretty good - though it ended a bit earlier due to some clouds. Nonetheless, not a bad place to see a sunset.
