Looking down the trail to Great Hill Though it was looking to be a very promising sunset, I needed to get up to the North Conway area. Upon stopping at the post office, I was amazed at how great Passaconaway looked - a Great Hill hike was a no brainer. Since the route from Great Hill Road is groomed daily for snowmobiling, I knew I was going to be able to bareboot the hike. With my back a bit off due to skiing the previous night, I was glad to be able to go without snowshoes or a pack. While Passaconaway wasn't looking quite as spectacular as it had earlier in the day, the views of it and Whiteface from the fire tower were nonetheless amazing - in fact, it looked like a painting. Though there wouldn't be a sunset photo (and boy did it look like a neat sunset later!), it was still nice to get out for a quick hike.
