Bartlett, NH, Chatham, NH Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below. ![]() Looking down the Weeks Brook Trail near the top Time to try a different approach to Kearsarge North. Starting at the gate, the Weeks Brook Trail was essentially a road walk. After eventually turning off a logging road, the trail became more of a traditional woods walk for a bit (though a bit vague due to leaves and a lack of blazes), prior to joining another logging road for a bit. Eventually becoming a trail again, it was a bit vague in places prior to reaching Shingle Pond. After taking in views from Shingle Pond, we continued around it and further up the trail. After passing by a marsh, the trail soon became steep. As we climbed, there were increasingly better views through the trees and eventually from ledges as we neared the summit. Reaching the somewhat windy summit, we ducked into the recently repainted fire tower for a break. The descent on the Kearsarge North Trail started off at a faster pace, as the temperatures seemed to be dropping. By the time we reached the ledges below the col, however, we entered nicer fall weather for the balance of the descent.
