Route: Signal Ridge Trail

Though I had planned to take the day off from hiking, an improved weather forecast, coupled with seeing Sawyer River Road open, coaxed me out to Carrigain.

Though the water crossings were a little bit tricky, they were nonetheless doable. The trail was snow free until reaching the upper switchbacks - and even then, it wasn't too bad.

The views from the summit tower were tremendous in all directions - though perhaps not 100 mile views today, they were fairly close. Thanks to the pleasant temperatures, minimal winds, and zero summit bugs, I sat on the deck for awhile, resting my aching knee.

For the descent, I took my time clearing some blowdowns - though, once I reached the flats, the black flies came out, forcing me to be less ambitious.

Nonetheless, a great day for Carrigain.
