Starr King Once again babying my bad knee, I decided to wait out the morning rain and do a mellow hike to Mt. Waumbek. The hardwood glade portion of the Starr King Trail slowed me down big time - it was absolutely covered in various types of wildflowers! It was hard to maintain a good pace whilst stopping every few feet to take photos. The Starr King Trail was mostly snow free up to the summit of Starr King. Beyond Starr King, there were some small patches of snow and ice leading to Waumbek. The views from both near-summit vistas were decent - the Presidentials were in the clear, with grey jays joining the viewing party on Starr King.
