Starr King A few days earlier, the weather forecast looked to be decent. However, as the day arrived, it was another 'cloudy with rain and thunderstorms' forecast. Delayed by an accidents blocking Route 16 in Pinkham Notch and Starr King Road on US 2, I had a later than planned start. Though I heard thunder rumbling in the distance for most of the hike, nothing came too close. Surprisingly, reaching the limited viewpoint on Starr King, I could see the summit of Mt. Washington. After reaching Mt. Waumbek, some sprinkles started. Fortunately the rain never picked up too much and, by the time I reached Starr King again, sun started to break through.
