Weeks Middle Peak), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, (Mt. Weeks), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, (Terrace Mountain), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, (Terrace Mountain North Peak), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, herd path, (Mt. Cabot), herd path, Kilkenny Ridge Trail, (The Bulge), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, spur path, (The Horn), Kilkenny Ridge Trail, Unknown Pond Trail

After a Bonds traverse the day before, I awoke a bit sore. Of concern was a pair of sore achilles tendons. A light hike was in store.

Running a bit late, I soon caught up to my group. Prior to reaching them, I learned the hard way that the first two water crossings on the York Pond Trail were tricky and did not need to be crossed - a simple herd path to the left bypassed both.

The Kilkenny Ridge Trail over the three Weeks peak was quite beautiful. Though there weren't any views, the woods were amazingly quiet.

Back at the York Pond Trail junction, we decided to head to Terrace Mountain. At the summit of the south peak, we ran into a moose, as well as some nice views. The north peak, however, did not have any views to offer.

Once at Bunnell Notch, we checked our supplies and decided to go for an aggressive loop - over Cabot, The Bulge, and The Horn.

The views from the blowdown patch on Mt. Cabot were good, though a bit cloudy. Continuing to The Bulge over some small patches of snow, the sun soon broke out. Though there wasn't much to see from the wooded summit of The Bulge, the sky started to clear as we reached The Horn and it's great vista.

Arriving at Unknown Pond, we were treated to a beautiful scene - slight sunset colors in the sky and a moose wading on the other side of the pond.

Descending the Unknown Pond Trail, I had the misfortune of discovering both of my headlamps were dead. Fortunately, after fishing around my pack, I found my extra batteries and was able to have light for the rest of the trip.

An exhausting but rewarding trek!
