About

Table Mountain, Big Attitash Mountain
Bartlett, NH

Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.

Route: Attitash Trail, bushwhack, (Table Mountain), bushwhack, Attitash Trail, (Big Attitash Mountain), Attitash Trail

Trails were generally dry, thanks to the colder temperatures freezing up some of the mud.

Reasonably smooth sailing to Table Mountain, though leaves obscured potential tripping obstacles. Shortly after the near summit ledge, I followed a herd path (fairly obvious footbed, but airway not obvious) up to what seemed to be the highpoint (probably a good place to pitch a tent).

Occasional black ice and mud between there and Big Attitash. The on trail swamp just before the summit was somewhat frozen, making for reasonable easy passage. Probably not much fun other times of the year. Found the recognized summit just after the swamp, a few dozen feet to the right of the trail.

Nice woods for the first mile or so past Table. A few seasonal peakaboo views along the way, but the last mile or two to Big Attitash was basically a ridge walk through spruce with not much else to see.

Very nice day for the Table Mountain ledge views (especially liked the one just off the trail on the east side of the mountain). Didn't see anyone all day.

Directions to trailhead: From Route 302 West in Conway, head into Bartlett and take a left onto Bear Notch Road (closed in winter). The Attitash Trail trailhead is located on the left side of the road (at the beginning of a curve), awhile before the height of land on the road. There is a very small dirt parking lot.
