Route: Spruce Pond Trail, Long Trail, ski trails

Sterling Pond Trail had lots of wet rock and minor mud. Appears to be a very, very popular trail...perhaps more people on it than on the Monroe Trail to Camel's Hump.

Long Trail between the pond and Spruce Peak is basically an access road walk. Continued up this access road like footbed, beyond the LT South turnoff, to Spruce Peak. Great views from the defunct ski trails (top of the complex was moved downhill a few years ago), as well as from the ledges adjacent to the highpoint (though a bit hazy this evening as looking directly into the sun...the views of the notch would be fantastic with earlier day lighting).
