The western portion of the Kenduskeag Trail climbed between the Carter-Moriah and Stony Brook trails to near the summit of Mt. Moriah.

Kenduskeag Trail. (W.M.N.F.)
This trail, named after an Abenaki word meaning “a pleasant walk,” starts on the W. bank of the Wild River opposite the bridge at the N. end of the Hastings clearing. It climbs to the top of Shelburne Moriah Mt., near which it will be joined by the Rattle River Trail, and continues S.W. over Middle Moriah to the S. slope of Mt. Moriah. Here it crosses the Carter-Moriah Trail and turns N.W., paralleling the Moriah Brook Trail. It finally crosses Stony Brook and soon ends at Two-Mile Bridge on Pinkham Notch Road, 2 m. S. of Gorham.

Kenduskeag Trail (WMNF)
Named from an Abenaki word meaning “a pleasant walk,” this trail starts on the W bank of Wild River opposite the bridge at the N end of the Hastings clearing, crosses the Wild River and enters a logging road. The High Water Trail soon leaves L and at the next fork the Hastings Trail leaves R while this trail bears L. It crosses the Carlton Notch Trail 1.25 m., and the N. H.-Me. State line 1.3 m. In the next 4 m. the trail rises steeply, passes near the summit of Howe Peak, and crosses the Shelburne Trail. Continuing, the trail reaches the summit of Shelburne Moriah 6.6., passes Rattle River Trail R, crosses the summit of Middle Moriah and near the top of Moriah 9.2 m., where it crosses the Carter-Moriah Range Trail. From this point the trail follows a western shoulder of the mountain, and turns NW, paralleling the Moriah Brook Trail. It finally crosses Stony Brook, and enters Moriah Brook Trail a short distance from Two-Mile Bridge on Pinkham Notch Road, 2 m. S of Gorham. Distance. 12.5 m.

Kenduskeag Trail (WMNF)
Named from an Abenaki word meaning “a pleasant walk,” this trail starts on the Evans notch Road 150 ft. S of the Evans Brook bridge, crosses the Wild River and enters a logging road. The High Water Trail soon leaves L and at the next fork the Hastings Trail leaves R while this trail bears L. It crosses the N.H.-Me. State line in 1.3 m. In the next 4 m. the trail rises steeply, passes near the summit of Howe Peak, and crosses the Shelburne Trail. Continuing, the trail reaches the summit of Shelburne Moriah 6.6 m. About ¾ m. beyond the Rattle River Trail leaves R. The trail soon crosses the summit of Middle Moriah and then climbs to near the top of Mt. Moriah, where it ends at the Carter-Moriah Trail. Distance 9.2 m.
