Looking up the The Starr King Trail on the way to Mt. Starr King
Route: Starr King Trail
In a week of rain, it looked like there was going to be a brief opening in the middle of the week. Looking at some webcams, it appeared I might get a tiny bit of sunlight up north. Sure enough, as I approached the Starr King Trail trailhead, I could see some small bits of blue sky.
Still a bit sore from a random injury from two days earlier, I wasn't exactly flying up the trail. While it had been quite scenic in May, a lot of the wildflowers were gone (though some still remained). Nonetheless, it was pleasant to get some brief rays of sun.
Reaching the summit of Mt. Starr King, the views to the east were still socked in, with the views to the southwest a bit hazy. Working my way to Waumbek, the weather seemed to continue to improve. Arriving at the summit, I continued over to the viewpoint and saw a double undercast of sorts - fog in the valley and another level of clouds up on the Presis.
Back on Mt. Starr King, the President view was improving, as Mt. Madison broke out of the clouds. Not bad for a rainy week!
