Looking up the slide on the Mt. Tripyramid trail on the way to the North Peak
Route: Livermore Road/Trail, Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid North Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid Middle Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid South Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, Livermore Road/Trail
After some morning rain, we decided to head up to the Tripyramids. We had a fairly late start, but made decent time to the north slide.
The lower portion of the slide (in the trees) was a bit wet in places. Once we reached the open areas, things were relatively dry. As we climbed up, the winds started to pick up.
At the summit, I followed a faint herd path over some rocks and found a nice north/east viewpoint that I didn't know existed. Nothing like the view from the top of the slide, but still nice.
Our next stop was Middle Tripyramid - the trail was a bit wet and slippery in places and the final steep ascent was a bit tiring, but nonetheless we reached the cold summit and had decent views to the north, east, and southwest. This was the first time since probably May that I was cold on a hike - long sleeve shirt time! We could see our breath.
After having some viddles, we headed over to the viewless south peak and then down the slide. The flats toward the end of the Tripyramid trail were a bit wet and the last brook crossing required getting shoes wet.
After reaching the Livermore Trail again, we booked it and arrived at an empty parking lot, just a bit before sunset. Another nice hike on the Tripyramids!
