Route: Livermore Road/Trail, Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid North Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid Middle Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid South Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, Livermore Road/Trail
We had been planning to do the traditional Tripyramid loop for some time. As the day neared, it looked like the weather would prevent these plans from happening. Nonetheless, the morning of, the radar looked to be somewhat clear for a few hours.
After the fairly dull roadwalk up the Livermore "Trail," we eventually reached the junction for the northern portion of the Mt. Tripyramid Trail. Since it wasn't raining or thundering, we decided to give it a go (our backup plan was Scaur Ridge).
After working our way across a slightly high water crossing, we soon reached the bottom portion of the slide. The wet rock made this difficult and risky. As we reached the open portion of the slide, the mist and occasional sprinkles made things very difficult. After losing my grip and sliding downhill a good 10 feet, I was just about ready to pull out rope. I didn't, and fortunately we were able to make it up in one piece.
After some lunch at the north peak, we worked our way over to the middle peak and were greeted with on views once again. Continuing to the south slide, we eventually had some limited views as we descended.
Below the south slide, the flats of the Mt. Tripyramid Trail were pretty muddy and the water crossings a bit tricky. The Livermore Road/Trail walk dragged a bit, but we nonetheless made it back to the parking lot in one piece, though a bit wet.
