Looking up the Livermore Trail

Route: Livermore Road/Trail, old logging road, bushwhack, Scaur Ridge Trail, Pine Bend Brook Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid North Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid Middle Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid South Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, Livermore Road/Trail, Big Pines Trail, Livermore Road/Trail

While the forecast wasn't looking as good as it had a few days earlier, it seemed like a halfway decent day. The walk up the Livermore Trail was nice enough, though the looming clouds over the high peaks didn't look great. With a few brief sprinkles, I decided to avoid the north slide and instead explore the logging road at the north loop junction.

Following this grown in logging road wasn't too bad - the footing was good and, though the spruce trees were encroaching, it wasn't terrible going. While I lost the road in a flat, wet area, I picked it up again along the side of a brook, and followed it for some time, finally bushwhacking uphill to the Scaur Ridge Trail for 5 minutes once the road peeled off right.

Patchy snow started on the Pine Bend Brook Trail, becoming fairly consistent on the steeps. Donning my Microspikes, I soon made the chilly, fog covered summit of North Tripyramid.

The snow was patchy between North and Middle, and fortunatley Middle was just low enough to provide some views under the clouds. After an extended break, we continued onto South Tripyramid, encountering wall to wall snow in between the peaks, which made navigation a bit tricky.

The south slide was snow free and dry, making for fairly smooth sailing and nice views. After doing a bunch of cleanup on the Livermore Trail, I opted to take a quick sidetrip on the Big Pines Trail, where I found some very large pine trees.
