Mt. Tripyramid (North Peak), Mt. Tripyramid (Middle Peak), Scaur Peak
Waterville Valley, NH
Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.

Heading up to the Scaur Ridge Trail via the old logging road
Route: Livermore Road/Trail, old logging road, bushwhack, Scaur Ridge Trail, Pine Bend Brook Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid North Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid Middle Peak), Mt. Tripyramid Trail, (Mt. Tripyramid North Peak), Pine Bend Brook Trail, bushwhack, (Scaur Peak), bushwhack, Scaur Ridge Trail, bushwhack, old logging road, Livermore Road/Trail
With a very windy day forecasted, we decided to stay south and in the trees. Starting at Livermore Road, we made our way up the groomed ski trail. Passing the groomed junction, it was very slow going due to snowshoe sized postholes.
Eventually reaching the second Mt. Tripyramid Trail junction, we headed straight into the trees and followed an old logging road almost all the way up to the Scaur Ridge Trail, bushwhacking through open woods for the last few hundred vertical feet.
From there, we continued up to the Pine Bend Brook Trail, which had decent snowshoeing conditions on the steeps. After a brief stop with decent views from the northern viewpoint on North Tripyramid, we continued to Middle, where we had excellent views in both directions offered.
We then backtracked to North Tripyramid. I continued down the Pine Bend Brook Trail, turning into the woods a few minutes beyond the Scaur Ridge Trail junction, following the ridge. With open woods all the way to the likely summit (I walked around a little bit, but found no sign or canister), it was fairly smooth sailing. In the interest of time, I dropped straight off the ridge back to the Scaur Ridge Trail. Though not terrible woods, they weren't nearly as open as what I had ascended in. In hindsight, it may have been slightly faster to have returned partway down the ridge, then dropped down.
Back on the Scaur Ridge Trail, I dropped down to the old logging road, then followed that back to the Livermore Trail.
