 Summary
Located west of Greenville and Moosehead Lake, Big Squaw Mountain was home to the first fire lookout tower in the country in 1905. An alpine ski area opened on the north side of the mountain in 1963. Circa 2000, the State of Maine renamed the mountain Big Moose Mountain. The historic tower was removed in 2011.
