Looking up the Jockey Cap Trail Route: Jockey Cap Trail Since I was in the area, I decided to head over to Jockey Cap for a quick sunset hike. Microspikes sufficed in getting up to the summit, with minimal snow depths and some ice patches. The bare summit was a bit cold and windy, making the sunset a bit chilly. Nonetheless, considering the minimal effort, it was a decent display. Just a bit after the village, the Jockey Cap Country Store and Motel will be on the left. At the furthest end of the parking lot near the motel, there's a sign for the Jockey Cap Trail.
