Looking up the trail to Great Hill
While I had anticipated taking another afternoon off from hiking due to a less than optimal weather forecast, I decided to change my plans when I went to the post office and transfer station - the Sandwich Range was capped in snow! While I want more snowfree weather, the sight of snow this early is still certainly an almost welcome novelty.
Thus, on my way back, I headed up to Great Hill for a brief hike to the fire tower. Though some places are leaf-free at this point, the foliage along the trail (road) up to Great Hill was still quite nice.
The views from the fire tower were excellent - a white Mt. Chocorua was shining in the sun, while Mt. Whiteface and Mt. Passaconaway were quite possibly getting additional snow from a hanging cloud.
Not bad for a day off from hiking!
