Summary
At 2,316 feet, Bear Mountain is the highest peak in Connecticut. It is not, however, the highest point in Connecticut - see south slope of Mt. Frissell for that title.

A large pile of rocks stands on its summit, remnants from an observation tower built on the then-thought highest point in the state.
