The Beehive, Halfway Mountain
Bar Harbor, ME
Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
Heading up the Beehive
Route: Bowl Trail, Beehive Trail, bushwhack
Trails were mostly dry. Beehive Trail fun as always with the dramatic cliffs and iron rungs.
From the height of land climbing out of the Bowl, I did a short bushwhack to the wooded summit of Halfway Mountain (did not observe any summit markings), then bushwhacked to the southeastern ledges (nice views). I found occasional traces of herd paths, cairns, and fire rings, but otherwise did not see any evidence of regular use. Woods were a little scrappy in shorts, but otherwise open.
