Boston Hill
Andover, MA
Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
The Loop Trail
Route: Loop Trail, Elephant Rock Trail
The Boston Hill Loop Trail (from Brightview) was in good shape, weaving its way up and down the long overgrown ski slopes. Not too much in way of views with the current foliage.
From near the top of the old ski area, a short trail goes to the tower access road, whilst another connects to the Elephant Rock Trail (and the Ward Reservation). Combined, the Loop and Elephant Rock Trails travel a significant portion of the perimeter of the fenced off summit (old radar station). I did not attempt to go to the highpoint due to the signage and growth, but it appears some have figured out how to get in.
The Elephant Rock Trail leads to wide views (recently improved) at the 'south summit.' It appears this trail may be closed at times right now due to ongoing clearing (there was a sign, but the caution tape was down). Another trail near there was also signed as closed, with the caution tape up, noting equipment operating (did not hear any).
