Located south of Jay Peak, Big Jay features a wooded summit with some nearby directional views. An unofficial herd path leads from the Long Path to the summit.

Big Jay received national attention in 2007 when an alpine ski trail was illegally cut on its eastern face. Two men were later prosecuted for cutting nearly 1,000 trees. The trail is posted against any use.
